Tero has been commissioned by ECO Consult to carry out a mission to support the dissemination of farmer-to-farmer systems in the intervention communes of ProSol Boeny (ProSol – Soil Protection and Rehabilitation to Improve Food Security) in Madagascar. German cooperation is implementing a national component of the ProSol project in the Boeny region, whose objective is “the application of sustainable approaches for the large-scale promotion of soil protection and rehabilitation of degraded lands in selected regions in Madagascar”. The dissemination of the practices promoted by the project is based on the implementation of a system of relay farmers, which aims to promote exchanges between farmers (“farmer to farmer approach”).

Services provided

  • Analysis-diagnosis of the dissemination systems in place and consultation on evaluation proposals
  • Facilitation of consultation workshops with partners/stakeholders on improvements/changes to be made to the systems
  • Capacity building through training-actions: 'identification and characterization of "Local Social Groups" and "Coactive Search for Solutions"
  • Accompaniment of pilot experiences (organization and facilitation of workshops with farmers)
  • Capitalization of pilot experiences, evaluation of the skills acquired and adjustments/validation of proposals for the evolution of the systems
